Dear Sahaja Yogi Brothers and Sisters,

Jai Shri Mataji!

Welcome to the holy pilgrimage, Chhindwara!

Situated in the heart of Madhya Pradesh - India, Chhindwara is the birth place of Her Holiness Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi and is now being developed as a permanent shrine to our Mother.

The holy Birthplace at Chhindwara had been in possession of non-yogis since Shri Mataji left Chhindwara to live in Nagpur. The House where Shri Mataji was born was acquired from the last occupant, Mr. Jamte by the HH Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi Sahaja Yoga Trust on 14^th July 2005.

Immediately thereafter, conservation experts from the Indian National Trust for Culture & Heritage (INTACH) were commissioned to firstly, assess the extent of structural damage due to vintage of the building and secondly, to suggest a roadmap to restore the building to its original grandeur. As a result a number of interventions have been executed at Chhindwara, including renovation of the Shrine and construction of meditation hall in the premises of the shrine, where visiting Sahaja Yogis from across the globe can meditate, when they go to pay their homage at the holy shrine. The meditation hall can accommodate 500 people. Also, land for Ashram has been identified and part of it has been purchased.

To share the beauty and relevance of this holy destination with all our Sahaja Yogi brothers and sisters, the Chhindwara Website has been launched. The site was formally inaugurated by our beloved Mother on the joyous occasion of Her 84th Birthday Celebrations at Pratisthan, Pune – India, on 21^st March 2007.

This initiative was a collective effort by many talented Sahaja yogis across the world and was coordinated by Sahaja Internet Team (SITA) from India.
